How To Successfully Sell Art On Instagram?

06/01/2023 15:17:37 +0000
Instagram is a perfect platform for artists, allowing you to promote your art and interact with your followers.

While it was initially used to share photos, there's no doubt that artists have embraced the platform to promote their work in a simple interface.

Of course, many also use Instagram to sell their art. But how do they do that? We'll be taking you through our amazing guide on how to successfully sell your art on Instagram and some key factors you should always keep in mind.

This article will offer tips and tricks to successfully promote your content. We're going to assume you're already posting your art online, so let's talk about how you should best promote it.

Create A Specific Artist Page
Do you have a personal account where you've been sharing your artwork?

This may be something that's holding you back. You should have a separate Instagram page for your artwork so that you don't post anything irrelevant to your page.

You can always link to your personal page, but having an artist page allows your followers to see your artwork without distracting personal posts. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't interact with your followers.

Ideally, your artist page should be dedicated to your artwork so that it's easier to find. It also looks more professional.

Establish Your Art's Brand
When you start to sell your artwork, it's best to incorporate a specific theme or style. This way, you can create a consistent brand so your followers know what to expect.

Doing this will give your art a consistent style, subject, color scheme, or mood. It doesn't matter which you use, only that your art should connect.

Once you have posted more work, your followers will recognize your art, and your Instagram page will look more professional. Your followers may not understand your style if you have an inconsistent brand.

Instead, you should save experiments for your personal page, while your professional page should be consistent.
Don't Forget Your Bio
Before your followers look at your photos, they'll be looking at your bio.

An unprofessional bio can turn a customer away or prevent them from finding the information they need. Your bio should have details about the type of art you sell, what you're selling, and where you're based.

If you do commissions, you can include whether they're open here. But you don't want to spend too long providing info your customers don't need. Instead, you can put more information on your website.

Link To Your Website
You shouldn't forget to link to your website; if you don't have one, you should make one. However, if you're worried about making one yourself, you can also focus on joining an online art shop so you can send them there too.

Having a separate website will make it easier for you to keep your art in one place. After all, Instagram is primarily a social network, and its goal is to interact with other people on the site.

So, you shouldn't expect to use Instagram as your primary tool to sell your products.

Post High-Quality Art Consistently
Now that we've discussed your page, we should delve into the importance of posting your art consistently. You should always post something new daily so your followers can be kept in the loop and know what you're doing.

This doesn't mean you only have to post finished pieces. You can always post works in progress and tease your followers with what you're working on next.

As long as you post your artwork consistently, you can build a relationship with your followers, as your art will become part of their daily lives.

Don't Forget To Tag Your Work
Before you start posting your content, we must stress how important tags and hashtags are when promoting your art.

However, they can be difficult to master. Using the wrong hashtag or tag, or not using them at all, can lower your chances of increasing your audience.

Ideally, you should find a hashtag in which your art will stand out, but don't choose something too niche. You want to find a good middle ground to share your artwork with those who will enjoy it.

However, try not to saturate your bio with too many hashtags. Only find relevant ones; your post may not give the best impression.

This might require a little bit of trial and error, but once you find the right hashtag, you should have no issues.

Don't Forget Captions

You could have the best art in the world, but even the best art can be scrolled through if you don't engage your audience enough.

One of the best ways to get your prospective followers to notice you is by remembering to use captions on your post.

Your caption doesn't have to be long either, so we don't ask you to write an essay. Instead, you should add some extra personality to your art to show your followers who you are too.

Remember that it should stand out so that your followers will stop for a second to read what you have to say.

Don't Be Afraid To Interact
If someone comments on your post, don't be afraid to interact with them. The art community isn't there to bring people down, and you may get some new followers if you engage with others.

Many people enjoy getting comments from the artist themselves, and it shows you want to build a professional relationship with your followers. Plus, if you talk to your followers or other artists, they may be likely to promote your work.

We should note that if you are talking with other artists and they promote your work, you should also return the favor.

Utilize Instagram Reels
Although Instagram Reels still feel new, it's essential that you utilize these to promote your products. You can always film yourself working on new artwork and offering a teaser for what you're going to be working on next.

The algorithm tends to favor Reels over standard photos, so you should produce them to get your artwork noticed.

You can be creative with them, and you can even use these to interact with your followers and let them know if you're going to have an event or promotion.

Remember, you should utilize all of Instagram's tools and be an artist. There's no limit to how you can use your Reels; it's time to be creative.

Final Thoughts
Instagram is a competitive social network with billions of users, so you need to watch what you post.

It can be difficult to make a wave, so you should focus on promoting your content so that people will be driven to follow and buy from you.

The good news is that once you've mastered the art of selling your products, posting will feel like second nature to you.

So, don't be afraid to stand out and interact with other artists and followers, and show everyone how great your art is.
